Celandine Poppies WoB by Tina Psoinos is a striking piece of abstract art, showcasing the artist's signature minimalist approach. Measuring 20 x 16 inches, this acrylic on canvas work presents a powerful contrast between black and white, with stylized poppy shapes emerging from the monochromatic background. The bold simplicity of the piece captures the viewer’s attention, drawing them into the textured surface where the poppy forms subtly interact with the black-and-white canvas.

Psoinos’s exploration of floral forms in abstract representation gives the painting a unique elegance, combining softness with boldness. The dripping black and white paint adds an element of movement, hinting at the organic inspiration behind the abstracted poppy shapes. The result is a visually compelling work that evokes a sense of simplicity and power while remaining rooted in the natural world. A New York-based artist with Greek heritage, Tina Psoinos draws on both urban and natural elements to inform her work. Her art often explores the feminine and the abstract, using mark-making techniques to bridge the organic with the minimal. Celandine Poppies WoB is an excellent example of her ability to balance strength and delicacy, making this piece an ideal fit for modern living spaces, offices, or hallways where its bold presence can create a sophisticated and contemporary ambiance.

Biography

Tina Psoinos explores the feminine in its different manifestations. Through a multidisciplinary practice that includes Abstract Painting, Mixed Media Pop Art, and Photography, she focuses on uplifting positivity and empowerment, as symbolic amplifiers. Psoinos uses mark-making inspired by nature and patterns found in city life in her abstracted work.

The same mark-making becomes the background in Psoinos’s pop art using mixed traditional and street art techniques with urban art aesthetics while sneaking in personal references of her Greek heritage and her Manhattan home. Drawing on powerful imagery, she uses these concepts to also create and develop inspired site-specific installations.

Psoinos was born in Athens, Greece, and currently lives and works in New York City. She received a BFA and continued her studies towards a Masters in Photography at Hunter College (New York, NY) and Interior Design at Fashion Institute of Technology (New York, NY). Psoinos has received many awards for her artistry and has exhibited internationally, including at the Photo Biennale in Berlin and Madrid and many art fairs during Art Basel Miami. Her artwork has been featured on NBC, Huffington Post, AD Italia, and was nominated at EMST, The National Museum of Contemporary Art in Athens, Greece. Her work is in private and public collections internationally, including Rockefeller Center, The World Bank Headquarters and Yuko Nii Foundation.
