Biography
I seek rhythm and abstraction with colors and shapes to evoke emotions and highlight my dual meanings. Shapes emerge randomly or follow rules, mixing disorder with precise geometric patterns like folded corners and waves, and X's resembling wings for release, leaving meanings up to the viewer.
Clari Netzer's paintings embody a duality and vibrancy deeply influenced by her upbringing in Monterrey, N.L, Mexico. Through her art, she explores the balance between contrasting elements, aiming to illustrate the harmonious coexistence of mind and matter. Her work is a quest for rhythm and abstraction, utilizing colors and shapes designed to stir emotions and convey the dualities that define her perspective. Netzer skillfully combines random shapes, emerging from the interplay of lines, with meticulously arranged geometric figures, creating a dynamic interplay of order and chaos. These elements, from folded corners to wave patterns and X-shaped wings, symbolize freedom while leaving interpretation open to the viewer.
Born in Mexico, Netzer's early fascination with Primitive Art, folklore, and Mexican Art History significantly shapes her identity as an Israeli artist today. A self-taught painter, her journey into art began early and was further enriched by her academic background in Communication Sciences. Immigrating to Israel in 1983, she has since developed an international presence, with her work being published and included in both private and public collections since 2007.
In addition to her painting career, Netzer is deeply involved in cultural and artistic projects, including lectures and workshops that highlight Mexican art's cultural wealth and advocate for women's roles in the arts. Her initiatives are driven by a desire to address the complexities of dual identity, the immigrant's need for expression, belonging, and sharing experiences.
Netzer's life and work in Carmiel continue to reflect her commitment to exploring artistic expression's depths, bridging cultures, and empowering communities through art.
